Get Set for Adventure

Ready for a vacation full of adventure and  exploration? With over 3,000 square kilometres of forests, lakes and trails waiting to be celebrated, Clear Lake Country is the place your heart is longing to visit.

Start your morning off in Onanole with some Kicking Horse coffee from Poor Michael’s Emporium. Try some of their baking; our favourite is the Grey Owl Balls! Here you can also shop through their hand-picked items from all over the world. You can also browse through their used books and records.

Awake yet? It’s time to spray yourself with a heavy dose of bug spray. Fill up your reusable water bottle and hop in your car!

Don’t forget to pack your lunch! Stop by The Clear Lake Trading Post where you can get the locals’ favourite “Beach Bun” — perfect for your action-packed day. Add a cookie and drink and you’re good to go!

Now it’s time for your adventure! Head down Highway 10 and turn right onto Highway 19 where you can explore some of the amazing trails Clear Lake Country has to explore.

We hope you brought your camera! With the scenic drive down Highway 19 you’re likely to come across a bear or moose or maybe a few! The ditches are also full of beautiful wild flowers

Riding Mountain National Park features some of Manitoba’s (and arguably Canada’s) most scenic roads and trails. Two wheels are the perfect way to explore, whether you want to take the family for a lakeside spin, tackle grueling road climbs, or enjoy the thrill of a tree-lined downhill trail. There are many options, both on road and off road, for cyclists of all ages and abilities.

Canoe and kayak, water-ski, wake-board or stand up paddle board on the pristine waterways of Clear Lake Country.

Clear Lake, with its sandy beaches and clear water is the most popular spot for swimming in Riding Mountain National Park. The main beach area in Wasagaming has change rooms and washrooms, as well an outdoor shower. There are numerous other spots for swimming around the lake as well including Lake Katherine, Lake Audy and Moon Lake. With arguably the clearest water in the province, Clear Lake is a premiere destination for boaters. Rent a pontoon boat, or a ski boat and spend the day on the gorgeous waters under the warm summer sun.

The Martese boat tour operating from Clear Lake Marina has something for everyone. The 95 passenger vessel offers lunch, mid-day, dinner and evening cruises on Clear Lake during July and August. Cruises are offered during the shoulder season as well. Kayak, canoe and paddleboard rentals are also available at the marina.

The road and mountain biking season typically runs from May through to October, Fat biking is a fun option when snow is covering the trails and roads.  Whatever the season, weather in the backcountry is unpredictable so make sure you are prepared with a repair kit, tools and waterproof, warm layers. You should also be aware of wildlife. Check Parks Canada’s website for more information about biking safety and wildlife advisories.

From short walks to back country treks, hiking in Clear Lake Country is easy to access and stunningly scenic.

The hiking in Riding Mountain National Park is among the most scenic and inspiring in Manitoba. Ranging from walks and easy hikes to multi-day backcountry epics, hiking is an accessible way to immerse yourself in the spectacular landscape of Riding Mountain National Park.
