Popular spots you can entertain the family is at the Playground located by Tennis courts, or the explore the Visitor Center (it’s currently closed for renovations but check out their pop up visitor centre in front of Parks Canada’s Admin Building currently helping visitors from the oTENTick.
Friends of Riding Mountain National Park also offers The Junior Naturalist Program which takes place Monday – Friday (1:30 to 3:30pm) from June 29th to September 4th (excluding Canada Day)
Since 1998 Friends of Riding Mountain National Park has offered a Junior Naturalist education program for children between the ages of 5 and 12. The focus of this program is to provide children and families with the opportunity to learn about nature; wildlife; ecological integrity and the cultural/archaeological history of Riding Mountain National Park, the Riding Mountain Biosphere Reserve, and the province of Manitoba. To date, over 15,000 children from around the world have participated in this summer education program.
For the 2020 season, the Young Explorers Program will run from June 30th to September 3rd.For children ages 7 to 14, the Young Explorers program is offered on Tuesday and Thursday evening, starting at the Friends Learning Centre (154 Columbine Street).
Cost is $10.00 per child per evening program (10% discount for Friends members). Due to social distancing precautions, class sizes in all 2020 Friends kids programs will be limited to a maximum of eight (8) participants. As a result, ADVANCED registration and payment is required!
Offered Monday to Friday in July and August, Friends Li’l Critter Camp takes place at their year-round Learning Centre location (154 Columbine) from 4:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Featuring arts & crafts, games and sports activities, Li’lCritter Camp is a great end to the afternoon.Cost is only $5.00 per child per afternoon.
Friends of Riding Mountain also offers Marsh Rental Kit with a scavenger hunt and nets. You can spend your afternoon at Ominick Marsh exploring the unique and interesting critters and creatures you can find!

Another popular activity is renting a few paddle boats from The Clear Lake Marina and paddling around The Main Beach.

Stop by Lakehouse for lunch where you can order the kids a delicious kids burger or grilled cheese! Here you can also reward yourself with a delicious handcrafted cocktail or crafty beer!
It’s beach time!! Check out the Clear Lake Trading Post for a huge selection of water toys and floaty devices! We would also like to remind visitors to contact Parks Canada to inspect your watercraft device.
The main beach area in Wasagaming has change rooms and washrooms, as well as an outdoor shower. There are numerous other spots for swimming in the area around Clear lake as well including Lake Katherine, Lake Audy and Moon Lake. With arguably the clearest water in the province, Clear Lake is a premiere destination for boaters. Rent a pontoon boat or a ski boat and spend the day on the gorgeous waters under the warm summer sun.

See the different flora and fauna that adapted to this landscape carved out by glaciers on this family friendly trail! Keep an eye out for the beaver in the pond and try and spot its lodge! If you’re luck you might even see the mama coyote and her babies!
